AUTUMN PRESENTATION NIGHT
::.
20/08/2008
The
Autumn Presentation night is again being held at the Nepean Rowing
Club - Bruce Neale Drive, Emu Plains. The Bistro opens at 6.00pm with
the trophy presentation starting around 8.00pm. Drivers are welcome
to bring family and friends along for a fun night out.
.:: CHANGES FOR 2008 SPRING
::.
20/08/2008
There
are once again a few changes for the next Championship. The main one,
is an increase to the entry fees across all divisions and packages.
Increased costs from SIRC have left PDNR with no option but to pass
on the increase to drivers. The increase was absorbed by the club
for the Autumn Championship, but starting with the Spring Championship
and increase will occur. Download an entry form for the 2008 Spring
Championsip - Word.doc
or Adobe.pdf
for more information.

4 2008 PDNR DRAG SERIES
::.
Rnd
4 of the 2008 PDNR Drag Series ran like clock work.
When Graham and Rod Broke the 100 kms/Hr early in PDNR's Drag racing History we thought this was great. But hasn't the benchmark been moved since then. With Dragster Leigh "Quick as Flash" Naylor breaking 120km/h in the 1/4 finals, unfortunately he was 0.033 too quick out of the Hole giving him a Red Light and eliminating him for the night.
Leigh currently holds 3 Records, Click
Here. We do hope he can run 120 km/h again at Rnd 5 on 30th August 2008.
Well done to Corey Fraser, Jake Cash, Jim Brown and Dave Bush who acheived their First Wins for the 2008 Championship.
Full results can be seen here, Click
Here
It was
good to also see some new faces on the Strip. Hope to see even more
at Rnd 5, when the weather warms up a little.

.:: PDNR WORKING BEE - HELP REQUIRED
- MAY 25 ::.
PDNR
are holding a working bee on Sunday May 25 and the committee are seeking
the help of all PDNR members (and any other volunteers that may be
available). The track equipment is in desperate need of a overhaul
and a good tidy up, especially with preparations
well under way for the biggest event ever to grace PDNR - The 2008
Winter Champs (June 27 - 29)
The Working Bee is being held at the Sydney Internation Regatta Centre
over at the clubs shipping container (near SIRC maintenance sheds
- if you don't know where that is, head towards the P5 RTA car park
- South bank - and keep going past the sky diving marquee) There will
be many jobs that need hands so the more helpers the better - even
if you can only spare an hour, it all adds up!
If you would like more information or have access to equipment that
may assist with the maintenance, please see a PDNR committee member.
.:: PDNR LAUNCH NEW CONTROL CLASS
::.
PDNR
are about to again test the waters of a control class. The 2008 Autumn
Championship, which starts on May 20 (Round 1) will accommodate a
class based solely for the EDAM Exer 1/8 scale on-road car. Preparations
for many drivers are well under way with several of these cars already
competing in the current Open Pan division. It should be great to
see some close racing between drivers all using the same equipment,
and the major supporter of the class, JPM Racing (who are a club sponsor
and impoerter of the EDAM Exer) have donated an EDAM Razor as a type
of lucky entry prize for the class. More information is available
by downloading
the flyer.
.:: PDNR TO HOST 2008 WINTER CHAMPS
::.
The
2008 Winter Champs, the sister event to the Summer Nats which are
organised and promoted each year by Racing Lines magazine,
will be held for the first time at PDNR. Naturally PDNR are excited
to announce that they have been given the opportunity to host this
major event, and are looking forward to putting on a great meeting
- as PDNR have a reputation of doing! More information will be available
closer to the date, but make yourself available on June 28 (GP - Nitro)
and June 29 (EP), with Practice scheduled for Friday June 27.
PDNR will be calling on help from Members to assist with many duties
on both the Saturday and Sunday, so if you are able to volunteer your
services for this event, please talk to Race Control.
.::
NITRO INTERCLUB SERIES ::.
PDNR members should now add February 23 & 24 to their
calendars with this being the next Nitro Interclub Series event being
held close to home at Whalan (SORMCC). This will be Round 5 of the
series, and more information and entry forms will be available from
www.interclub.org.au
.::
2008 SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP ::.
There are some minor changes being introduced for the 2008 Summer
Championship, and the following is a quick overview of what to expect.
TRACK LAYOUT
Expect the track configuration for 2008 to change slightly. A track
design will be trialled on the Practice Night – January 8. The favoured
suggestion at the time of printing is to extend the front straight
into the 2nd half of the chicane, and extend the middle straights
to fill the space of the 1st half of the chicane. The 90 degree left
hander after the bridge would also be chamfered to create a more flowing
track for 2008. An example illustration is below.

DIVISION SEQUENCE
The race order will continue to rotate each week, and the sequence
has been changed to: Nitro Kit, Buggy, Pull Start, Outlaw, Pro Tourer,
Truck, and Open Pan. Novice will remain the first session immediately
after the drivers brief. The school holiday Kids Class will also return
in 2008.
HEAT B FIRST
When there are enough entries to have two heats, a system where Heat
B will run before Heat A will be trialled during 2008. The idea behind
it is to allow the Heat B drivers to marshal during Heat A’s race,
and hopefully gain some tips and pointers to help improve their driving
and car setup.

2007 CHARITY CHALLENGE - KIDS RACE DAY ::. --
Posted 17/12/07 --
A good day was had by all, but the rain did get us in the end, however
the day was about the kids, with racing being a very distant second.
Just
over $1700 dollars was raised and donated to the St Goerge Rotary
Club who organised the day.
Steve
O matched his Serpent 1/8 up against a Nissan 300ZX Drift Car (which
had a 5.7 Chev bolted in) and I'm pretty sure Steve won 3 to 1. At
one stage there I'm sure Steve thought his car was going to become
a permanent fixture of the main straight at Oran Park, as he nearly
put it under the Nissan on two occasions. Apparently a number of his
body parts become very tense and contracted enormously.
He
also had a crack at a Police cycle who is still trying to work out
how to change from 1st to 2nd without smoking the clutch or valve
bouncing it!
Police 0 - Steve 2.
Although
the rain fell the traditional Dunny Derby was still held and provided
some very entertaining viewing but I'm not really sure who was declared
the winner in the end as a bit of drift session seemed to take over.
A
lot of kids got the chance to drive some of the RC cars around and
I can tell you the smiles on their faces was a sight to see. The drivers
that were helping the kids out and lending their cars were having
just as much fun as the kids. A special mention and a big thanks must
go to Barry Gavin who donated an RC car for a raffle prize for all
the kids that took the opportunity to test drive the cars. A young
boy by the name of Alex took it home.
Thanks
to all the sponsors for the day;

Custom

to big or small. Just ask for Bluey!
Thanks
also to all the club members that helped set up and/or packed up the
track. It goes without saying that we need your help.
Last
but by no means least a VERY BIG THANK YOU you to all the drivers
that entered the event and provided some entertainment for all the
kids. It just goes to show what we can achieve when we want to.
This
event concludes the PDNR Racing calender for 2007 . Racing starts
back again on the 8/1/08 (Tuesday night) for an open practice session,
and to test drive all your new cars that Santa leaves under the tree.
PDNR
wishes all its members and drivers a very Merry Christmas and a safe
New Year.

RED BULL GIVE PDNR WINGS ::.
-- Posted 06/11/07 --
PDNR
drivers were greeted with an un-expected surprise when the Red Bull
girls arrived at racing on a recent Tuesday night to hand out free
cans of the energy drink. The gals Christina and Lee were a hit, and
the driving that night was exceptionally fast paced...what do they
put in that stuff!
PDNR member and long time racer Steve Valletta was first on the scene
(must be because he races in 3 divisions and needed the energy!) so
we sanpped a few pics for the website. We still have no idea who organised
the Red Bull visit, but they heard about PDNR some how and sent the
angels out to promote their product. I guess you can expect to see
some cans of Red Bull in the eski at future race events!
