.:: C-TICK
APPROVAL ::.
16/07/2010
At
the recent General Meeting the issue surrounding C-Tick approval of
Radio Controllers was raised by members. The committee have investigated
the situation and can report the following response from the Australian
Communication & Media Authority.
The
importation of Radio Control transmitters for "personal use"
(i.e. not for supply to others) falls outside the labelling
requirements of "the Radiocommunications Devices (Compliance
Labelling) Notice 2003" (the Notice), a copy of which can
be downloaded
here
The labelling requirements are, in part, aimed at importers
who supply products to the Australian market and are required
to show these devices are compliant with the applicable standards
by labelling them with the appropriate compliance mark, in
this case the C-Tick.
If a person imports these devices into Australia for "personal
use" and does not, or will not in the future, supply said
device to another person, provided the device complies with
the applicable radiocommunications standard and does not cause
interference, the device does not require a C-Tick compliance
label and may be used in Australia by the person who imported
the device. The onus is on the user to ensure it is compliant.
Please also note that for the purposes of the ACMA's compliance
and labelling arrangements the term "supply" has a very broad
meaning and includes supply where no money or payment of any
kind has occurred. I should advise that the loan of a device
by an importer may constitute supply.
The above also applies to devices that are not transmitters
such as receivers and battery chargers.
I hope the email clarifies the requirements, if you require
any additional information please do not hesitate to contact
this office.
Regards
Stephen Harrison

IN MEMORANDUM
~ Wayne "Chippy" Adams ::.
It
is with sad news that PDNR share the news of the passing of Wayne "Chippy"
Adams on Saturday September 26, 2009.

Chippy (pictured above with Kevin Maton in 2004) was a member of PDNR
for a number of years from 2003, and still came up to race from his
home in Tasmania to race every December for the Kids Race Day at Oran
Park. Chippy was effortless in his contribution to PDNR and in 2004
was awarded an annual award for his contribution to PDNR...it was a
good night for Chippy who also finished 2nd in Nitro Kit (his first
and only podium at PDNR).
We will miss you Chip!

UPDATES FOR AUTUMN CHAMPIONSHIP
::.
19/05/2009
With
the start of another Tuesday night championship, the PDNR committee
have a number of new announcements for drivers participating in the
2009 Autumn Championship:
- NEW Driver Induction/Orientation Procedure:
From Autumn 2009 drivers will be required to complete a short induction/orientation
on the essential procedures at PDNR. This will not only help educate
and prepare the drivers for RC racing, but it will help shorten the
many repetative messages that are announced during the Drivers (long)
Brief.
- New Prize & Format for Graham's Hobby Centre Raffle:
Following a suggestion from a PDNR member, the Graham's Hobby Centre
raffle for Autumn 2009 will not a a nitro RC car, but a $500 voucher
to spend on anything in store! But wait, there's more - there are
only 100 tickets being sold (at $10 each), so be sure to get in quick
to avoid missing out!
- Track Committee - Call for Interest:
Feedback and suggestions from drivers has launched investigation into
the establishment of a designated Track Committee. The PDNR committee
have called for expressions of interest from drivers who would like
to be part of the track committee. If this is something you would
like more information on, please see Race Control on Tuesday night.
- New Race Timing Software:
From Autumn 2009, Slyfox G4 will be used as the timing software for
PDNR Tuesday night events. Previously Slyfox G4 has only been used
for PDNR's major events, but recent updates have allowed the software
to be used on Tuesday nights. Drivers are requested to double check
personal transponder details as these will not transfer across from
the previous timing software.
.:: ANOTHER MILESTONE FOR PDNR
