RACE FORMAT TRIAL - 2005 AUTUMN CHAMPIONSHIP

PDNR have introduced a new race format that will be trialled during the 2005 Autumn Driver's Championship. The new format involves a change to the first track session for each division (excluding Novice). The second track session will remain the same as Summer 2005.

The trial format will introduce an 8 minute practice session in place of the 5 minute race. There will be 1 minute between practice sessions, and transponders will be used to count drivers laps for 8 minutes. The objective is to provide drivers with track time to allow them to experiment and try different car setups, without the concern of championship points. Drivers can compare race results to evaluate any setup changes that have been made in preparation for the championship race in session 2. To encourage cars to use the time available, drivers will be awarded 5 championship points if they complete 1 or more laps in the practice session.

The second track session for each division will remain the same, a 5 minute timed race with 4 minutes between races. This second session will be part of the championship and therefore the full point structure will apply.

If you have any questions or feedback on this trial format, please contact us or direct your comments to a committee member (in the fluro yellow vest) at racing every Tuesday night.
