.:: NEW MEMBER SMS NOTIFICATION SERVICE HAS LAUNCHED ::.

PDNR's new member SMS Notification service has launched. If you are a current 2010/2011 PDNR member, and you did not receive the welcome SMS (which was sent at 9.15am on Monday 29/11/2010)
please contact racing@pdnracing.org.au to ensure you are on the contact list.

The SMS Notification Service will initially be used to advise members of racing cancelations and other important information. The service may be expanded to distribute other information in the future, pending feedback and evaluation.

.:: NEW FORMAT FOR 2011 ::.

The format and plans for 2011 have been determined and there are a few changes in the pipe line that look certain to stir up the action at Tuesday night events in 2011. Here are the details:

- Spring =
1 Practice & Registration + 14 Championship Rounds
- Round 7 = 1 x 10 minute race per division (worth double points)
- Final Round = 1 x 15 minute race per division (worth triple points) ~ Final round can't be dropped as worst round

Details for 2011 Summer Championship:
- Same Divisions and same Race Order Rotation
- Same Entry Fees
- "Mates Rates" has been extended for 2011 Summer Championship

.:: CALLING FOR FEEDBACK AND SUGGESTIONS ::.
18/11/10

Remind
er: Drivers are encourgaed to offer feedback and suggestions for 2011 events. There is a new thread in the PDNR Forum, so please post your ideas in the thread, or email them to racing@pdnracing.org.au.

If you support an idea or suggestion, please put a post to express that - the more feedback there is the better understanding the committee get of what drivers are feeling and wanting.

.:: REMINDER - PDNR MATES RATES ::.
13/11/10

Reminder: PDNR are running a special promotion during the 2010 Spring Championship, offering "mates rates" to new entrants that are introduced by a current PDNR driver. The rate on offer is equal to PDNR (2nd division) member rates - so any new entrant that is introduced gets their first two race nights for only $8.00 per division. Speak to David at the registration table for more information.

.:: PDNR CHRISTMAS PARTY::.
06/11/2010

The PDNR Christmas Party has been cancelled. A lack of interest has left organiser Steve Valletta no option but to cancel the tentative booking for the Major Oak Comedy Jail.

.:: SIRC LIGHT TOWERS
::. 04/11/2010

The flood lights for the P1 car park have been adjusted on Thursday night, November 4, 2010. A PDNR committee member was present to help align the flood lights to the optimum position, and he has reported that visibility for the track is now better than it's ever been.

.::
C-TICK
APPROVAL ::
16/07/2010

At the recent General Meeting the issue surrounding C-Tick approval of Radio Controllers was raised by members. The committee have investigated the situation and can report the following response from the Australian Communication & Media Authority.

The importation of Radio Control transmitters for "personal use" (i.e. not for supply to others) falls outside the labelling requirements of "the Radiocommunications Devices (Compliance Labelling) Notice 2003" (the Notice), a copy of which can be downloaded here

The labelling requirements are, in part, aimed at importers who supply products to the Australian market and are required to show these devices are compliant with the applicable standards by labelling them with the appropriate compliance mark, in this case the C-Tick.

If a person imports these devices into Australia for "personal use" and does not, or will not in the future, supply said device to another person, provided the device complies with the applicable radiocommunications standard and does not cause interference, the device does not require a C-Tick compliance label and may be used in Australia by the person who imported the device. The onus is on the user to ensure it is compliant.

Please also note that for the purposes of the ACMA's compliance and labelling arrangements the term "supply" has a very broad meaning and includes supply where no money or payment of any kind has occurred. I should advise that the loan of a device by an importer may constitute supply.

The above also applies to devices that are not transmitters such as receivers and battery chargers.

I hope the email clarifies the requirements, if you require any additional information please do not hesitate to contact this office.

Stephen Harrison
